Why a stock brick and not something else.
High compressive strength
Manufactured to a nominal 7.0 MPa and tested to SANS 1215. That clears the SANS 10400-K floor for single-storey load-bearing masonry with margin. For the lower storey of a double storey the rule calls for 10 MPa solid units, so ask us before you specify it there.
Consistent dimensions
Dimensional tolerance held inside the limits set by SANS 1215, so your courses run true and your mortar consumption stays predictable.
Lowest unit price
The cheapest unit in the range, which is why it stays the default for general walling. It is not the cheapest wall once a bricklayer's day is priced in: that is the maxi brick, which covers the same square metre in a third of the units.
Cured before it leaves the yard
Cured to full strength before dispatch. No green units leave the yard, so nothing arrives that crumbles under a bricklayer's trowel.
